F300K compact flame scanner

F300K is a compact flame scanner that houses the evaluation unit and flame sensor in a single device, with sensor, amplifier and flame relay all built in. It was developed for complex industrial firing systems and is used on plants with or without flame discrimination tasks, on single and combination burners, for combustion chamber monitoring, in power and heating plants, process furnaces and waste incineration plants, and wherever the view of the flame is restricted. The standard version is certified for Ex zone 2, and a version for Class I, Division 2 (Groups A, B, C, D) hazardous locations is also offered.

The scanner analyses the flame digitally in both the UV and the IR range and comes with a single sensor or a dual UV/IR sensor. UV-4 and UV-4.6 detect in the 215–360 nm band and IR-4 in 1000–2200 nm; the UVIR-1 dual sensor covers 215–360 nm in the UV and 850–1700 nm in the IR, and it is meant for demanding duties such as multi-burner plants with different fuels or strong background radiation. Three preselectable operating modes apply their own detection parameters to different fuels and operating conditions and can be changed during operation. A self-learning flame ON/OFF function and 14 frequency ranges between 5 and 210 Hz are provided.

The LED version shows flame status, operating mode and intensity, while the version with an integrated graphical interface is set up entirely through menus. The version without an integrated interface has to be operated with a graphical user interface or the F300K remote software. The 0/4…20 mA output can be assigned to flame intensity or to the RMS value of the sensor signal. Up to 32 scanners can be linked to a PC over the FSB bus; a repeater is needed once the total line exceeds 80 m. A cooling air housing allows temperatures above +85 °C, and the F300K-FO fibre optic system serves boilers with a restricted flame view at up to 350 °C.
