Fast hot water storage cylinder
Straight-tube counterflow heater producing large flows of hot water from steam, hot or superheated water, or thermal oil
TSB Energy
- ≤ 64 t/h
- ≤ 100 bar (1450 psig)
- EN 13445 · AD 2000
This straight-tube heater meets industry's demand for large volumes of hot water by passing heat from steam, hot water, superheated water or thermal oil to cold water. The heated water flows through the tubes at 1.5–2 m/s, and the counterflow arrangement delivers water at the required temperature quickly and at high flow rates. TSB builds it for up to 64 t/h and up to 100 bar (1450 psig), in vertical or horizontal form. Typical uses include power plants, petrochemicals and refineries, HVAC, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, marine, automotive, pulp and paper, and wastewater treatment.
Unlike coil-type or enamelled cylinders, the straight tubes are hardly affected by dirty or hard water; they can be cleaned chemically and replaced one by one when needed. The removable tube bundle makes both the tube side and the shell side easy to clean, and sediment that settles in open systems comes out through a cleaning cover. Tubes are arranged in line or staggered to suit the application, fluid circuits are laid out for the required flow, velocity and pressure drop, calculations assume worst-case turbulence and the heat transfer area exceeds the calculated value. It also handles fluids containing particles or fibres.
Shell and end plates are P355GH to EN 10028-2, or AISI304 or AISI316 stainless sheet for corrosive fluids; tubes are P235GH or P265GH drawn steel to EN 10216-2, or AISI304, AISI316 or AISI316Ti stainless for corrosive or hygienic fluids. 100 mm of high-density insulation keeps heat losses low. The unit comes on a single skid and only needs connecting to the heating and heated fluids. The PLC supervises overpressure and temperature protection and emergency shutdown, with data via Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP or Profinet. Design follows EN 13445, AD 2000, PED 2014/68/EU and ASME Section VIII Div. 1.
