HAB-E electric hot air generator
Non-pressurised hot air generator that heats air electrically up to 700 °C, with no burner or flue
TSB Energy · HAB-E
- ≤ 40 MW
- ≤ 700 °C (1300 °F)
- No burner or flue needed
The HAB-E is a hot air generator that works without pressure: air sweeps turbulently over the surfaces of electric heating elements inside a stainless steel casing and warms up. TSB builds it for up to 40 MW and air temperatures of up to 700 °C (1300 °F). With no fuel to burn, there is no burner, flue or fuel tank, and no COx, NOx or SOx is released at the point of use.
Hot air is available 3–5 seconds after start-up, and heating stops the moment the unit is switched off; with nothing stored or preheated, there are no standby losses. SSRs adjust heater output proportionally in stages, so the generator runs at full power at peak demand and drops to as little as 1 kW if needed, holding temperature by room or outlet temperature. Nearly all electricity becomes heat, giving efficiency close to 100 %. As only air passes through, freezing, bursting or leakage cannot occur. Typical uses are drying bricks, ceramics, ores, timber, paper, textiles, powdered chemicals and foodstuffs.
Casing sheets are AISI304, AISI309 or AISI310S stainless steel, chosen by the required air temperature, and the heating elements use seamless AISI304, AISI316 or AISI310S tubes; sheaths up to 1 mm thick resist corrosion and mechanical load. The Incoloy-sheathed elements run at 70–75 W/in² and withstand overvoltage of up to 10 %. The PLC supervises high-temperature, outer surface temperature, fan pressure and heater surface temperature protection as well as emergency shutdown, and shares data via Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP or Profinet.
HAB-E electric hot air generator
- Hot air 3–5 seconds after start-up, with no standby or preheating losses
- Works without pressure, so there is no pressure-vessel risk and no heavy safety equipment for it
- Full power at peak demand and down to 1 kW if needed, with precise SSR temperature control
- No burner, flue or fuel supply, and zero emissions at the point of use
- Close to 100 % efficiency and near-silent running
- Stainless steel casing in AISI304, AISI309 or AISI310S, chosen by air temperature
- Can be multiplied modularly for larger or fluctuating heat loads
- Remote monitoring via Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP and Profinet
